Creating Freedom -Planning and Realizing The Low Budget Film

This year's Australian Screen Directors Association conference,
Creating Freedom, to be held at Sydney's College of The Arts, Rozelle,
on the 16th to 18th of September is taking the initiative to focus on
skills necessary to survive and thrive in these difficult times.
Following on from last year's highly successful Conference, Creating
Freedom is again focused on providing practical information and skills
by some of Australia's most notable industry professionals.
Acclaimed US director, Joel Schumacher (Phantom of the Opera, The
Client, Batman Forever, Tigerland, Veronica Guerin and Phone Booth) has
been confirmed as keynote speaker for the conference.
Other confirmed speakers include Jon Hewitt, Khoa Do (The
Finished People,) Rolf de Heer (The Tracker, Bad Boy Bubby) and Robert
Connolly (The Bank, The Boys, Three Dollars), Sue Brooks (Japanese
Story) and Kate Woods (Looking for Alibrandi, Changi), Kathy Mueller
(The Magistrate, Girl from Tomorrow), Robert Stone (award winning US
documentary director), documentary producer Graeme Isaac, Canadian
interactive Producer/Director Steve Comeau, Lawyer and producer Greg
Duffy, SBSi's Glenys Rowe and Vincent Monton, one of Australia's
leading cinematographers.
The ASDA conference will cover every aspect of successful low budget
film-making, whether documentary, drama, TV or web-based, from
pre-production techniques through to marketing. Session topics include
raising Private Finance, The Essence Of Shooting Fast, Future
Opportunities in Interactive Digital Media, Distribution, Casting and
the AFC's Indivision, as well as case studies and theoretical and
practical overviews of the entire process. The latest
technologies such as pre planning software and the new digital camera
hardware will also be explored as ways of keeping a production
affordable.
