Popcorn Taxi and the Australian Screen Editors Guild is proud to
present this special evening with the COMPOSER/EDITOR of SUPERMAN
RETURNS, and the forthcoming remake of LOGAN'S RUN, JOHN OTTMAN.
Ottman is both an editor and composer, whose credits in - either or
both roles - include The Usual Suspects (1995), Apt Pupil (1997),
Goodbye Lover (1998), Incognito (1997), X-Men 2 (2002), Gothika (2003),
Hide and Seek (2004). He also directed, edited and composed the music
for the feature Urban Legend: Final Cut (2000).
Tonight's program - featuring clips and an extended interview and
audience Q&A with this editor/composer - offers a special insight
into the techniques and methods of a career that is unique in the
A-list of international movie-making, guided by BILL RUSSO ASE, Head of
Editing at AFTRS.
Best known for his creative partnership with BRYAN SINGER (currently
directing SUPERMAN RETURNS at FOX STUDIOS AUSTRALIA), Ottman met the
director making student films at the Uni of Southern California.
Singer's first feature Public Access was where the editing/composing
'synthesis' as Ottman put it really began.
Praised as both a gifted editor and a composer with a 'darkly romantic
musical personality', Ottman is a fascinating film artist and this is
another Popcorn Taxi you won't want to miss.
