guild events newsletter interviews & articles news archive	\|\| Book Launch - “Cutting Rhythms: Shaping the Film Edit” The inspiration for the creation of this group is the international publication of Cutting Rhythms: Shaping the Film Edit by Dr Karen Pearlman, ASE Committee member, Head of Screen Studies at the Australian Film Television and Radio School and Co-Artistic Director of The Physical TV Company in Sydney, Australia. The book is being published by Focal Press, America’s leading publisher of books on film and media. Cutting Rhythms is about what rhythm in film editing is, how it is shaped and what it is for. Focal press, which also publishes such luminaries as Reisz & Millar and Ken Dancyger, is particularly excited about Cutting Rhythms because they believe that, not only will it find an international readership with professional editors, assistant editors and editing students, but it will also be extremely useful and inspiring for directors and writers who want to make their productions more immediate and vibrant, as well as being illuminating and enriching for general readers who love film and are keen to know how and why a great film works.
