The Australian Screen Editors Guild is inaugurating its peer
assessed editing award this year with the establishment of four awards.
In 2006, the eligible categories are:
Best Editing in a Feature Film
Best Editing in a Documentary
Best Editing in a Television Drama
Best Editing in a Short Film
Eligibility:
Editors entering competition must be members of the Australian Screen
Editors Guild. Specifically, editors have to be a financial member
during the period, 1 July 2005 to 31 December 2006;
Productions must have been completed between July 1st 2005 and June 30th 2006;
Feature films must have had a cinematic or video release;
Documentary entries may be either a full length documentary or up to 2 x 1/2 hour episodes of a series;
Television drama may be a single episode from a series, or one off tele-movie or drama show.
Short films - up to 20 minutes duration; all entries must have had
either a festival screening/broadcast or television/commercial video
release.
One Entry per category per editor. Co-Editors may make a joint entry.
Entries will be accepted on DVD only. It is the responsibility of the
entrant to provide a DVD that is easy to duplicate. DVD entries will
not be returned.
Accredited members who enter will deem themselves ineligible to judge in that category.
Applications must be completed and received by the extended date of the
15th September. Postal entries must be postmarked 15th September or
earlier.
Judging:
In the inaugural year of the awards, the accredited members of the
guild will conduct judging. Judges' decisions will be final and no
correspondence will be entered into.
Four finalists from each category will be announced in the week
commencing 20th November and presentation of awards will be held in
early December in Sydney.
Co-editors will receive individual trophies if they are members of the guild. Trophies will be awarded to ASE members only.

- Completed application form.
- 2 DVDs of completed production
- $40 cheque payable to the ASE or signed Credit Card Permission.
