Applications are now open for Accreditation 2009

Accreditation 2007
Accreditation is the highest honour the Guild bestows on an editor, it is like an honorary degree. Henry Dangar ASE, the first president of the guild, described it thus:
" It is not given lightly.
It is given by editing peers and therefore has a high value attached to it.
It is an acknowledgement of a very strong body of work over a period of time.
It is an acknowledgement of an editor who has continued to pass on the craft of editing to those who want to learn.
It is an acknowledgement of an editor who has continued to work actively in promoting the values of good editing and editing practices."
To date, the guild has accredited forty-nine editors.
An applicant must be a current financial member of the Guild & have been for a minimum of two years.
Applicants will have at least five years industry experience as an Editor and have demonstrated an exceptionally high standard of editing along with an ability to promote, improve and protect the role of editor as an essential and significant contributor to screen media production.
Once you become accredited you are eligible to judge the ASE Editing Awards & Accreditation applications.
Full members who consider they fulfil these requirements should apply to the Accreditation Sub Committee through the national office of the guild by submitting:
- A complete list of their credits as an editor, highlighting the titles they consider to be their best work
- Three full examples of their work on DVD to assist in the selection process.Applicants may be asked by the sub committee to submit further material if required.
- A short personal statement demonstrating their willingness and ability to advocate the role of editors in the industry and to advance the standards and recognition of the accreditation process.
- Telephone contact details of two professional referees.
- The fee of $50 is to be paid at the time of application.
The deadline for application is 5.00pm, Friday 14th August 2009.
The Accreditation Sub Committee is defined in the ASE Articles of Association as consisting of 2 Accredited members for every 1 Full member.
Accreditation by the Guild is deemed an honour and the Accredited Editor shall have the right to use the letters ASE after his or her name.
Accredited Members will be presented with a certificate bearing their name and the date of their accreditation. The certificate shall always remain the property of the Guild.
In the event of an applicant failing to gain Accreditation, he/she may re-apply the following year.
The Executive Committee’s decision is final. No discussion or correspondence will be entered into.

Best Feature at the Adelaide International Film Festival and has been
included in the Official Selection for Cannes in the Un Certain Regard

Roland Gallois, the editor is
currently in Cannes with other members of the cast and crew.
Roland has this to say, " \'Samson
and Delilah\' was a dream job for me on every level. The ideas,
approach and especially all the people, starting with Warwick and Kath
made this whole experience a very special one. The rushes were
beautiful and moving and perfect everyday, it was a joy being in Alice
for the shoot surrounded by the world Warwick knows so well and
intimately.
I feel truly blessed to have cut
this film and hope that all the editors in the guild and beyond can
have working relationships like this where everything falls into place
and one feels a valued and trusted member of a team."
