The only thing I didn't like- this concerns the software- is a new feature in the audio input setting, which enables you to set the pan on your audio channels to the middle and mix them, which is ireversible! In my opinion it is a superfluous control. And, here comes the nasty thing, it was the default setting, and there was no indicator showing this!! I discovered it after the first capturing session and fixed it. I am not sure if this is generally the case. So, take it with care. Cheers, Davoud |

Alexandre says about his Mojo
"We've been playing with an Xpress Pro and a Mojo card for a couple of months and we love it all the way! Good value for money, a rare thing coming from Avid. Best thing is that it can be plugged into the Unity system and share media with Adrenaline (although not at all resolutions ). Worst thing is that it doesn't take digital audio. We've had a few hicups that were easy to fix. We're so happy that we've unplugged our FCP with a Cinewave card that was driving everyone insane (I'm ready to give that one away, if there are any takers). Good machine, solid, reliable and the good old Avid interface. Cheers, Alexandre."

What I don't get is: if you run Mojo on a Powerbook, it uses the only firewire socket. What then happens if you want to capture from a firewire deck? Do you unplug Mojo? Can you use a Firewire hub? Wie Gehts?

xpress pro with mojo is worth it - think of it as a baby media composer.
Alexandre is right - the worst thing is that it only has unbalanced analogue audio. though I believe the new studio complete set will fix this. positives are that it does uncompressed SD and the DV res is v.good. with mojo it will capture accurately and output via the digital cut tool using 9-pin remote. on the downside some curious bugs have been reported. film options are limited - though, pal film projects are possible with a bit of juggling cheers, Henry |
