Two ASE members took out the editing prize at the 26th annual Art Directors and Writers Association Advertising Awards.
Bernard Garry from Karl Marks for his fabulous work on the Nike Australia spot ’Keep the Ball alive’.
And Andrew Thompson from Guillotine for his superb visual feast for Toyota with ’Snake Bite’. Both were wonderful examples of tight stylish editing and well deserved their win.

It was a glitzy affair held at the Randwick racecourse last Friday night for nearly 1000 advertising punters.
The night was themed as ’alchemy’ – the process of turning base elements to gold.
A fantasy medieval forest land was created, complete with magical illusions and spells cast by emcee Shaun Micallef.
Followed by an after party which I believe is still going for some.

Well done boys.

That snakebite ad has been my favourite for ages. So much detail that I jumped up to watch it closer every time it came on. Well done Andrew - great work and really inspirational.

This is my first post so i hope it goes in the correct place.

Thanks Pete for the recognition of the AWARD editing awards. I need to make a minor correction to that info.

As much as I would have loved to have won for Toyota Snakebite it was Visa "Monster Chase" that i received a trophy for.

Snakebite did win for Sound and Visual FX at AWARD and a well deserved win in those categories.

Ironically Snakebite has done well winning overseas for editing, Clios and London Intl. i guess that is the weird nature of these awards, you never know.

So thanks Pete for the wishful thinking, if only you were judging!!

Congrats to Bernie on his award, he did a lovely job on Nike. Champion effort. Well done.

Thanks Jude for you kind words about Snakebite spot.

Cheers, Drew (Andrew) Thompson
