FILM EDITORS GUILD OF AUSTRALIA

Roger Whittaker, Laurie Barnett, Barry Fawcett, David Hugget, Barbara Laletin, Geoffrey Travis and Peter Thompson are new members to FEGA. Welcome.

Tentative dates for the weekend workshop have been set at july 28 and 29, august 4, 5, 11 and 12. The confirmation of these dates relies on our successful application for a grant from the Film Council. Film Australia have been extremely generous in allowing us the use of their Lindfield premises.

The industry log of claims was due to go for the final judgment on july 10, 1973. So hopefully we will all see how we are to live for the next few years.

The prime minister has invited FEGA, along with other industry organisations, to comment and offer suggestion"s in regard to the interim report to the Australian Council for the Arts. This deals broadly with proposals to the government on how the arts in Australia should be governed and by who, and for what purpose.

June saw another "Five-by-five" evening - five editors and their films and the second screening of film school productions at the Filmmaker Cinema.

In reply to criticisms that FEGA is an ABC employees grievance organisation, it can be noted that attendances have increased 100 percent at our monthly meetings and that membership at present is rising at the rate of 12 per month. ABC editors, unfortunately, have not joined in great numbers. Attendance at the last film school screening was approximately 100.

Join your guild, make the guild work for you and in this way your position in the industry will strengthen. We have been hearing of editors throughout the industry who have received raw deals but are unable to help them without their support.

So editors unite for united editors.
