Avid EDL to FCP4

We are having problems taking an EDL from an Avid into a FCP4. We are using the CMX3600 format.
The sequence has dissolves, fades and speed changes.
The speed changes come in no problem but the dissolves and fades disappear and become straight cuts. We've tried adjusting different parameters in the Avid but to no avail and there doesn't appear to be adjustable parameters for importing EDL's in the FCP4.
At the moment we are going through a very tedious match cut
process to meet a deadline.
We would be very glad of any advice as to what we can do to get around this problem.
