View Full Version : WEBSITE FEEDBACK

To all registered users of www.screeneditors.com
Please take a moment to compose some feedback on the new (now established five months) website/bulletin board. This would be particularly valuable whilst you are still in the learning curve as a new user. Its obvious that there may be explanations and design aspects that could be better for those encountering our site for the first time. The software that underlies the "new" ASE website is extremely adaptable and powerful and so we'll do what we can to accomodate suggestions for improvement whilst trying to keep things consistent and reliable.
Feel free to complain, offer help, compliments or just submit a wishlist.

Its amazing, when editing, how time can get away from you.
Like just before, I coulda sworn it was 3:55PM, given that's what my computer's clock said, but there on the bottom-left corner of the website was the line: The time is now 5:55 AM.
Had I been in the suite THAT long!?!
And not only have I been up all night, but so has the SUN!
A minor deviation that brought me a laugh ...

the time displayed on your browser is a function of the server time (the server is in the USA,) plus or minus the "location" offset selected when you register. So check that and check your time again. I'd be interested to know if it is still a problem; its OK for me.
The Ase web site is great and a big round of applause to those who put in a lot of hard work to keep it fresh and up to date. As an ASE member who lives overseas, I couldn't do without this touchstone on the Aussie Film Editing industry.
The only thing that doesn't seem to work (for me at least) is the link to FrameWorks.
daz
I'd just like to add my name in supportof Daz's comments re the ASE website. After a short (shallow?) learning curve I soon got used to visiting regularly and finding it very useful.
Congratulations on a job well done. (Your right Matthew it is really very clever!)
Hey Bill, is that the Dove of Peace, or the Cockatoo that's gonna strip your verandah?
daz
Well actually Daz, I'm not sure if its a Segull or a eagle eyed Sea Eagle (depends on my mood at the time). The kind of bird you find around a beach (remember what they are Daz? Sydney is littered with them).
If you can think of any thing else it could be, feel free to have a go at it. It's really the logo of my website www.beachnet.com.au which is really my old website with a new URL. Got sick of the bog standard ASE generic logo that popped up next to my name and this was right at hand. Did think of putting my name up with a star flash but someone else had already done that.
BTW you've been very quiet of late - 3 Wise Men been flat out pulling in the pounds? You must of saved up enough to drop over for a swim sometime, been really hot here in Sydney. Hope it hasn't been too cold in Soho.

Simply because Steven Smith doesn't have a website yet!

I would find it most beneficial to have the "Recent Website Changes" section of the home page only reflect additions to threads and not every response to 'Poll's'.
Personally I find it frustrating to see the "Which editing system do you prefer" thread constantly appear at the top of this excellent part of the front page, just because someone has weighed in with a vote but not a comment. Killing the thread would be a bad idea, as there has been some good discussion so far, Daz and Jude always have something useful to add… Opinions are interesting, me to's are not, and this thread could starting emanating the wiff of a platform war, YAWN.
IMHO

Dear "frustrated"
Hang on a mo'
if I do that then any poll will soon disappear off the recent updates list and no-one will find it. The interest in a poll is getting comments on an ongoing basis.
this needs more thought. Maybe I should post a poll on it ...

Excellent point, how about placing polls permanently in the 'Activities' section.
WaZ.
should we have a poll on the issue?

.....mmm yes indeed.... but seriously, how about moving all the polls to their own forum. It would give readers a quick way of navigating to a one stop opinion shop.
