Matrox RTMac

Noticed that Matrox have now released OSX drivers for the RTMac card, these have been in development and beta testing for some considerable time.

Staying on OS9.22 & FCP 3.02 for the time being.
Have not recently looked at the latest news on RTMAC, there are
forums at the Matrox website which gives heaps of clues.

I have installed Rtmac update onto OSX 10.2 and that went fine.
The two things I noticed FCP 4 in OSX is less responsive then FCP 3.02 in OS9 on my machine. (...my machine very, very old by todays standards G4 DP450, but as home system for DV it still got heaps of life.)

The second problem for PAL users and I am not sure whether there is a fix yet, is that there is lipsync error on the output of the RTMAC BOB (break out box), It is approx 3 frames audio leading vision. RTMAC from memory are saying that this issue is being caused by Quicktime, so QT and OS updates may resolve it.

Panther I believe fixes some of the response problems of the OSX Operating System, but has a bug with Oxford chip based firewire drives such as Lacie, where it deletes the content of the drive.

Anyway sorry for waffle, but I have found FCP 3 & OS9 very stable & reliable, so I don't feel forced to move on.
