A FILM EDITOR IS WHAT?
What is the Film Editors' Guild of Australia? What are Film Editors? Who employs them and what do they do? How many times when faced with these questions have we wished for immediate access to a barrage of lucid explanations, or when faced with the statement "Oh, yes, you cut out the good bits!" to make a hasty exit.
In -Script and Screen", the new voice of the Film Editors' Guild we have the answer, for here at some stage, will be explanations for the queries of the most ignorant and the most informed. The Film Editors' Guild of Australia is an organisation consisting of professional film editors and cutting room staff whose aim is to improve the existing conditions and standards among film editors, and together with associated organisations, to help raise standards in the industry generally. An ambitious task, certainly, but one which will help us to take our place among the other great film producing countries of the world. This magazine will help us to keep informed on current trends, and contribute toward a feeling of unity around the continent. The newly forming New South Wales Branch of the Guild has already thrown some fresh light on some aspects of Guild affairs and we look forward to a strong association with them as well as branches which we hope will soon be formed in the other states. This is your magazine, enjoy this edition, and help it to grow by contributing to it in the near future. The exchange of views and ideas will help us all.
