Hey editors!
Just came across this video the other day, and I really like this color effect, but does anyone has any idea how they could have achieved it and using which software?

ignore the song by the way, just pay attention to the image. :)
cheerz,

Nothing terribly fancy in the bit that I looked at, just straightforward color grading. At its simplest, it's a partial desaturate, some black crush and white crush, and a gamma tweak. You could also achieve something similar with Red Giant Looks or equivalent software.

what about just using final cut? looks to me like there is some sort of a brown tint going on as well.
As I said, it really looks like a simple colorgrade. You could do it in Media Composer, Premiere, Vegas, or Final Cut, or pretty much any NLE or effects system.

Nat, JWRL is correct it is a pretty basic effect one that can easily achieved in FCP. Add your Color Corrector 3-way filter to your clip. I work better visually rather than numbers...up to you! Depending on the footage, will depend on how far you have to pull the blacks down, the clip I used to simulate was not a lot (-16), the saturation was pulled out to around 60% of its default setting. the mids were lifted slightly and the whites were lifted (385) and given a slight yellowish / orange colour to them. This should give you the basis to start with, but tweak each shot and treat each project as there own as depending on how it is shot, will depend on how to effect it. Oh...if you want the fish eye look, add the filter and play! :) Hope this helps?
