View Full Version : Colour My World
I'm interested in colour grading. I like to mess with it, I know a fair bit about it, I even teach it to a basic level. But I want more. So much more.
How can I find out more? Is there anyone out there willing to mentor me on grading? I can clean up a picture, make it legal and achieve some simple styles, but I want to know how to make the picture really *work*.
I have the patience of a slightly stupid saint, when required, which I believe is a entry level requirement for people who like to work with colour.
Also, I'm in Perth. But on the internet. *hopeful smile*
Or .... where can I go to get/buy an education on this? Who or where does this kind of training?
Ahh Jude, this is one of my high priority current projects having just returned to AFTRS. We have to cover FCP and Avid and the deeply technical as well AND we have to have someone who is good AND be available a month or so after we advertise it.
Any suggestions on this or other courses you may find useful will be most welcome.
The usual big ASE discount will apply when we get a decent course up and running.
In the mean time have a look at this book. It is part of the excellent Apple Pro series...

Thanks Bill - I will get that book, but a master class would also definitely be appreciated. I would travel to the East coast if I had to to do a course like that. Or maybe we could experiment with iChat? There's got to be a way to overcome that four hour flight thing.
Another thing that a couple of us over here would love is a class on sound design. Integrating music, mixing, dealing with problem sound, that sort of thing.
We are already doing this stuff to a fairly high level, knowing about and passing QC, but we want to be *better*. Well, I certainly do, anyway.
BY the way, did a guy called Mark Raudonis get on to you about a possible production needing graduates? I sent him on to you about a month ago.
Me again. Feel like a forum hog today, but thanks to your link, Bill, I found this http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Pro-Training-Encyclopedia-Correction/dp/0321432312/ref=pd_sxp_grid_i_2_1/103-5216786-6526230
and I thought it might appeal to anyone else reading this thread who was in the same boat as me.
