Just thought I'd tear you away from the luxury you work in to the see the luxury I'm workin' in.
Yes, its in south of France in a converted convent with walls 3 feet thick.
I can watch rushes from bed if I want. And its only 5 metres from the kitchen, bathroom, pastis, front door etc etc. Bien pratique!
Special note to Carryl and James: Check out the "chaise ergonimique"!! Bet you're jealous.
Friends will recognise my signature "up-light" and baked-bean pencil tin. Detractors will point out the OHS nightmare tangle of power cables and triple "adaptateurs"
But what more could I ask - except a bit more leg room?
I'm liking the LaCie action - very Le Mondé
lol. I'll bet the chair is probably better for your back than some of the $1000 jobs you get these days, too. You just couldn't charge $1000 for it...
BTW - how are you getting the second monitor running off the ibook? I thought it could only mirror without a spanning hack..?

Screenspanning Doctor Hack :-)
I couldn't do anything without the second monitor.
If I could find an external QWERTY keyboard here I'd be using that too.

I wasn't really doing any editing, mostly logging, some paper editing and snorkeling, but here are some pictures of my work area for a reality series on an uninhabited island in Fiji.

And, the island...
However, now I feel lucky that there is a window in my edit suite... :)

Now we're talking...
Surely, after all thats what editing is about,
(beat)
Beauty, depth and hours of inspiration exploring other worlds.
NOT
DARKEN'D ROOMS, EGO AND TIGHT TURN-AROUNDS.... (fade to black)

OK, so I move around a bit.
Here's my NEW cutting room. Its too cold in the attic, so instead, I'm in the cellar. Its snowing outside.
Note the dust-extraction unit under the control panel, the emergency high-pressure fire-dousing reservoir, and the ready supply of underwear and old newspapers in case of flood.

Control room detail: Most interesting. A new way of harnessing the heat from a Lacie drive to warm a traditional European household. Patent applied for.

Assistant station: All the things a modern assistant needs in their toolbox, and more. Just above the pumpkin, the main switchboard powering the entire machine-room. The large object at bottom right emits a loud roar every fifteen minutes, lasting four and a half minutes.

Editroom Store – note particularly second shelf in the middle of the picture; large bottles of a homemade clear drinkable liquid. Very handy for emergency stimulation every fifteen minutes, or as required. Also good for cleaning glue and ink stains.
Bottom shelf is last seasons' tomatoes, bottled. Great on pizza.
Judging from the abundance of pipes, I would say that flood is a distinct possibility!

Hey Matthew where do you put ze director when he/she wants to meddle with your cut?
Or is that the very point? If so I'm going to downsize my room.
