This week, the venerable Avid-L user group imploded under an unrelenting assult of Flames, Trolls and Stupid OT:subjects (politics/religion).
If anyone who uses this resource has missed the fun, then consider yourself lucky.
Doubly so because as a parting gift, one of the heavy hitters of the List, Jeff Sengpiehl (an ASCR) has setup AVID-L2 @

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Avid-L2/

Here is a snippit FAQ from the site
----
This group is for former users of the Avid-L mailing list. That said, the primary purpose of this list is to provide a Q&A forum for issues surrounding Avid products, and those who edit with them.
<SNIP>
Welcome, and Enjoy!
----

Human nature is an interesting thing, a user group that has evolved over a decade from a humble Bulliten Board to unmoderated mailing list hosted by AVID has, by pure democracy alone, self destructed and resurected itself OVER ONLY A PERIOD THREE DAYS somewhere else http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Avid-L2/ painlessly and free of idiot postings.

Any Avid user who has walked away from the -L in the past year or so, simply due to Signal to Noise, really should check in at the new -L2.

As BIG KEV would say "I'M EXCITED!"
I know Daz will be too...

Pretty amazing, eh? I'm sure it's for the best. I wonder what Custom Sift AvidMojo will call himself now?

Oh, just spotted it. Flamethrower something or other. Does what it says on the tin.

Meanwhile, L2 is up and running, quirky as ever but mercifully more circumspect. How long can it last?

So hows the new list going? The old one was a bit of a nightmare - we unsubscribed ages ago despite needing a place to go for advice.

So far so good, the collective sigh of relief postings seem to have died down now and its full steam ahead without the nonscence, if you get the digest version you recieve one email every 25 posts unlike the old version which was 1 (huge) every day.

Thanks Waz - good idea about the digest, too.
